Properties and uses of graphite

Product Description: graphite

Graphite powder is soft, black gray, greasy and can pollute paper. The hardness is 1-2, and increases to 3-5 with the increase of impurities along the vertical direction. The specific gravity is 1.9-2.3. Under the condition of oxygen isolation, its melting point is above 3000 ℃, which is one of the most temperature resistant minerals. At room temperature, the chemical properties of graphite powder are relatively stable, insoluble in water, dilute acid, dilute alkali and organic solvents; the material has high temperature resistance and conductivity, and can be used as refractory, conductive material, wear-resistant and lubricating material.

Due to its special structure, graphite has the following characteristics: 1. High temperature resistance: the melting point of graphite is 3850 ± 50 ℃, and the boiling point is 4250 ℃. That is to say, the weight loss rate and coefficient of thermal expansion are very small when using ultra-high temperature arc sintering, and the strength of graphite increases with the increase of temperature. At 2000 ℃, the strength of graphite is doubled. 2. Lubricity: the lubricity of graphite depends on the size of graphite. The larger the scale is, the smaller the friction coefficient is, and the better the lubrication performance is. 3. Chemical stability: graphite has good chemical stability at room temperature, resistant to acid, alkali and organic solvent corrosion. 4. Plasticity: graphite has good toughness and can be pressed into thin sheets. 5. Thermal shock resistance: when graphite is used at room temperature, it can withstand the drastic change of temperature without damage. When the temperature rises suddenly, the volume of graphite will not change greatly and there will be no cracks.

Uses:

1. As refractory material: graphite and its products have the characteristics of high temperature resistance and high strength. They are mainly used for manufacturing graphite crucible in metallurgical industry, and are commonly used as protective agent for steel ingot and metallurgical furnace lining.

2. As wear-resistant lubricating material: graphite is often used as lubricant in machinery industry. Lubricating oil is usually not suitable for high speed, high temperature and high pressure.

3. Graphite has good chemical stability. It is widely used in petrochemical industry, hydrometallurgy, acid-base production, synthetic fiber, papermaking and other industrial sectors, which can save a lot of metal materials.

4. Graphite can be used as pencil lead, pigment and polishing agent. After special processing, graphite can be made into various special materials for use by relevant industrial departments.
