In recent years, graphite mold in the modern industrial application industry continues to expand its position, this time is different from the past, the current graphite mold is already a trend in the future.
First, wear resistance
The reason why graphite molds generally fail due to wear is that when the billet is plastic denaturated in the mold cavity, it flows and slides along the surface of the cavity, resulting in intense friction between the surface of the cavity and the billet.
1, wear resistance is related to the number, size, shape, type and distribution of carbides in the material
2, one of the more important properties of graphite mold is the wear resistance of the material;
3, the main factor affecting wear resistance is hardness. The higher the hardness of graphite parts, the smaller the wear amount, the better the wear resistance;
Second, strength and toughness
Graphite molds are generally used in a harsh environment, and some need to withstand a relatively large impact load, resulting in brittle fracture. It is the high purity graphite products with relatively high toughness and strength, which is conducive to preventing the sudden brittle break of mold parts during work. The toughness is mainly related to the microstructure, grain size and carbon content of the material.
