Carbon-carbon crucibles are mainly used in thermal field systems such as photovoltaic and semiconductor crystal growth furnaces.

Their main functions are:

1. High-temperature bearing function: The quartz crucible filled with polysilicon raw materials must be placed inside the carbon/carbon crucible. The carbon/carbon crucible must bear the weight of the quartz crucible and polysilicon raw materials to ensure that the raw materials will not leak out after the high-temperature quartz crucible softens. In addition, the raw materials must be carried to rotate during the crystal pulling process. Therefore, the mechanical properties are required to be relatively high;

2. Heat transfer function: The crucible conducts the heat required for the melting of polysilicon raw materials through its own excellent thermal conductivity. The melting temperature is about 1600℃. Therefore, the crucible must have good high-temperature thermal conductivity;

3. Safety function: When the furnace is shut down in an emergency, the crucible will be subjected to great stress in a short period of time due to the volume expansion of polysilicon during cooling (about 10%).
